meh! - election blues. no caps.

December 13th, a Friday, a UK General election, a result. Meh!

A moment in time, which will pass.  They all do. That is why chronic suffering is so intolerable, because it does not pass, it fluctuates. We are not designed for that.

And so..

The work continues.

It is so disheartening that so much solid work by decent people is being undone by public lies and propaganda. for such low rent goals.

A 67.2% turn out.

2.8 million students in higher education, accruing debt, as they are offered zero hours contracts and must pay rent to service older generations private wealth .

A third of UK adults of all ages, classes, genders and demographics have no interest in voting, largely because they sense a deep corruption which repells them, the feel a distance that is an abyss, and so they veer away. They do their best to get by, and they do their best to deal with what ever hierarchical circumstances throw at them.

I did.

Those who believe the pretence that the media is a genuine democratic actor vote for the system, every time. They take pride in voting.

I did.

The voters may make the mistake of choosing Left or Right in the belief that that position brings change, progress and improvement for themselves, automatically,

I did that too.

I have done all of that. I remember what it was like to be socially conditioned to 'think' along provided lines, not realising I was mostly repeating what I had been told to learn.

"Corbyn is a Communist!" No evidence, just a belief.

Those who are dedicated to others do more than vote; they work with others, they devote time to organise ways to help others, and they always vote for more humane policies if those are on offer, and they seek always to end war, poverty, misogyny. and abuse of power. They don't always vote. They frequently lobby on behalf of those they support in their work, they become advocates. They give because the need is there.

There are so many of you. Angels.

Exhausted Environmentalists, Collapsing Care and Nursing Staff, Struggling Teachers,  Volunteers, Food Banks an expanding 'market',  the 135,000 British children and their parents in Temporary Accomodation, the 14 million adults out of 49 million, 1/3rd of the adult population in low or no income, the disabled, the traumatised, the broken and vulnerable who are already dealing with chronic stress, pushed to further and further stress, leading to lethal outcomes caused by DELIBERATE inadequate support coupled with authoritarian sanction regimes and public humiliation via 'entertainment' media.

The 13,000 children abandoned when Kids Company was closed down in 2015. The spike in knife crime and the surge in gang activity that followed had nothing to do with that, of course.

Good work destroyed by lies.

Julian Assange dying by official neglect in a Jail Cell, falsely imprisoned, in solitary 23 hours daily, for reporting the honest truth.

Tony Blair and all the MPs who voted to wage war in Iraq and Afghanistan, all walking free, all drawing State Pensions.  The Tax Payer is rewarding every MP who voted for the war in Iraq and Afghanistan with a hefty cash award, until they die.

And who thinks Jeremy Corbyn is a problem?

Trump was elected. Chosen. And marketed, heavily by political grooming gangs.

Johnson was elected. Chosen. And again, marketed, heavily by political grooming gangs manipulating vulnerable people...

"Get me Roger Stone."

Dirty Tricks.

Why does a population of millions submit to the manipulations of a few tens of thousands of people, loosely organised as a ruling minority?

What Power did The Bible and a few prelates who ordained the King or Queen exercise in the Middle Ages?

It's hardly surprising that Lord of the Rings resonates with an ancient futility.  It ends well, albeit with a warning. It could so easily get worse again. Written within a culture that was profoundly warlike, an Imperial Culture with a 'glorious' History, soaked in blood. Epic.

We know The Hobbit is a fantasy.

Justin Beiber is a fantasy.

Jeremy Corbyn 'the reslover of all our problems' is also a fantasy, a caricature that denies the collective responsibility. No such person exists.

It is also an allegory, a dream, an approved folk myth.

The movie version  however, co-opts that fantasy to sell-on (Value Added) a particular Abrahamic Fantasy.

That Fantasy is that you can beat Violent Hierarchy by Good Violence.

Avatar.

No such thing. They are the same thing.

Violence is not a fire to be fought with, using violence. That is a way of maintaining the fire at it's most destructive. Again, clever co-opting of the caricature maintains the status quo.

They could not co-opt Corbyn, so they had to manipulate, lie, deceive and bluster fully, totally supported by the News Media Corporations, large and small, 24/7 and convince enough vulnerable people that Corbyn is a 'communist', or an 'anti-semite' without reference to policy on either side.....they devoted inordinate resources to the task.

88 percent Misleading vs 0 per cent Misleading.

Jeremy Corbyn is politically way, way, way ahead of the mainstream of the British Political Class who unfortunately pretend to not understand the nature of War at all.

The British Establishment and all the political parties are unwilling to bring Blair to account. They will not let that happen. They oppose it.

As in they do understand it, of course they see it, and they pretend not to.

They fully know the crime they have committed.

Palestine, The Amazon, 'Australian' Aboriginal peoples, Iraqy, Libya, Syria, Yemen.

He's no Hobbit.

He is one of many people, across our society, who sees what the structure is. And we are largely people with little material power, until we organise.......

The workers in steaming factories took on owners with troops, and gave us so much.

That is why he wants to rein the oligarchs in, why he wants to abolish poverty, because that is what it will take, in practical terms, for the human people as organised groups, to start to seek ways towards behaviour that heals the violence.

The harm caused is intolerable.

That is what drives Jeremy Corbyn.

Human Kindness and Common Sense as a policy advisor.

It is disheartening to look and see the kind of society this really is.

He did that a long time ago.

Without understanding, it appears terrifying.

Understanding it is far, far more terrifying.

And yet, it is absolutely necessary, to look into this abyss because we really do need to understand, to know, forensically, what it is.

To be radical does not mean anything other than to go to the roots of any given problem, honestly, and to apply our native human intelligence to resolve the problem. A bodge job will not do.

Those who break things are not radical.

Those who build, can chose to take a radical approach.

If they do so then they move from radical to rooted.

If propaganda and lies can inform so many people's decisions, especially when we can access accurate information at will, then we have to understand that, absolutely we have to know what this is, and then design a solution.

My opinion about any particular propaganda is irrelevent.

My theories, likewise. Those might be starting point towards a discourse on social conditioning such that adults readily believe easily debunked lies, and that this afflicts all of us.

What are the facts about conditioning : how from within the womb, and from infancy onwards, growing up within a bully hierarchy system that is extremely violent will alter emergent behaviour and body biology, and not in ways that promote human biological health, rather most often in ways that we know cause degeneration across all bio-social-psychological physiologies...

Living in a bully setting causes more disease, illness, unhealthiness than any other factor.

We MUST understand social conditioning within a bully social system accurately if we are to resolve it - it's harsh work, to understand conditioning, not least because it WILL bring up our own conditioning for healing, in the process, and that is not easy work for anyone.

There is no magic self-help tip on this one.

No drug to bring you relief.

No workshop to balance this.

God cannot resolve this one.
Faith will not touch it.
It's not the work of any Guru either.
----  that said there are people studying this issue with serious dedication, whose insight is valuable and reliable ---

Here's my brief outline.

In essence it resolves around attachment: how the interaction between infant and caregiver influences the brains development, how ANY chronic stress introduced and maintained over the caregiver will undermine that child's brains development, and it will afflict their behavioural homeostasis negatively in ways that will persist for life. In this culture, this Society, and in any culture or family, this is a life sentence imposed through no fault of either parent or child - poverty, war, famine, social disruption, indoctrination, violent hierarchy - these are all events of the civilised, almost unknown in egalitarian cultures.

These characteristics of the civilised alter all childrens lives, ever after.

For me it is kinda obvious that it has to be stated clearly that there is huge variety in how people respond or react to circumstance and events, and there are patterns we can observe across populations, and we have to be very careful to understand that no individual is the pattern.

Stereotypes cause harm. Lies cause harm.

At the individual level there is so much detail that surrounds their behaviour, that the pattern will never fit without blocking other data.

The population level pattern is a rough guide, policy demands more depth at the application level, the delivery level.

And the corporate and religious news media business is deliberate in keeping that detail away from the population that consumes it.

Here are some of those themes.

Trauma informed care.

Intergenerational Trauma Behaviour Alterations.

Bullying in Politics.

Victors Histories that dehumanise the victimised, either as a noble sacrifice or as a neccessary execution of a Devil, the ultimate enemy, all wrapped in pomp and sentiment.

Bibles, Torahs and Qurans as grooming tools.

Anti-Semitism.

Racism.

These are all languages of disease.

Humanity is not a disease; this culture that is dominating so much of Humanity is.

The Hierarchically Violent Industrial Militarised Competing Power Culture.

It afflicts almost every living group on Earth.

It's a lot of people, yes - it is not all Humanity, by a long shot.

Two different things, and thus we must learn about our Humanity in order to confront the culture that indoctrinates, that tells children what to think with a sanction reward dynamic at play.

Bullying little children.

Boris and Donald. What happened to you?

What happened to me?

What happened to you?

What happens?

"The psychology of any given family, community or society is revealed and perpetuated in how that family, community or society relates to and treats the most vulnerable - the infants and toddlers, the children, the pregnant, the vulnerable. Change that and you alter everything."

It cannot be expressed any clearer than that.

A healthy human psychology does not punish children, period.

Trying not to punish those adults who harm us is never going to be easy, and I think it's less about forgiveness than it is about revenge, which is merely contining the cycles, and that it really ought to be about prevention into the future.

To that end I would reccomend 'Behave' by Robert Sapolsky

What current verifiable scientific clinical and practical understanding of the biology of behaviour tells us about our behaviour. Evidence over theory.

Behave: it's a superbly written book, easy, fluid, a rich river of information, with dips into detail where needed. A solid reference work, it consitently rewards dipping into. Amazing. Critically important information that changes almost everything.

I would also suggest you peruse the work of Allan Schore on human brain development from conception through to  birth, infancy, toddler, child, youth, adult and onwards amd the importance of attachment as a biological stimulus to healthy brain development..

Muralgate, Corbyn, Anti-semitism, Racism and Education.

* apologies to early readers, for the horrendous lay-out.. edit, 21:57

MuralGate
:

A mural was created on a London wall. In 2012. Jeremy Corbyn made a comment about it, without having seen it, and his comment was related to free speech, rather than the particular, specific image.

The mural, depicting white old men playing monopoly, on a board which is carried on the backs on kneeling non-white people, and there is an all seeing eye/pyramid above them....

It's about state colonialism, empire, wealth and power and the harms

6 years later, this becomes a media storm, insinuating that Jeremy Corbyn, and by extension, those who support him, are anti-semetic.
The mural has been tagged.

This is Mear One, the graffitti artist speaking about this piece, his mural. This video is on facebook.

A few things I would like to add.

1. There is no such thing as Race. Racism is built on fantasy, not reality. Treat it as such. So too misogyny, patriarchy et al.

2. Many millions of non-white people, under the table, as a cultural, ethnic and continental population are poorer because of European State colonisation.

The European Scramble for Africa; conquest, and then continued dominance of those European origin interests after 'independence' to the extent of covert military operations, economic warfare, debt inducement, supporting dictators and anyone willing to support that continued economic or corporate dominance over Africa.

3. This is part of a global pattern of institutionalised hierarchical power and militarised violence determining the fates of millions upon millions of ordinary people.

Russia

On the matter of the spy-poison soap opera, this from Yes Prime MInister puts it in it's place...

The International competing powers dynamic is a dysfunctional set of relationships and it is a pathological behaviour set, which is causing immeasurable avoidable harms and any honest discussion about the Russians, The Americans, The Israeli's, or anyone else engaged in that behaviour must be set in that context, or it inevitabley perpetuates the dynamic.

This is that the painting is about..Breaking the spell.

The poor, the low income worker, and the middle class are all exploited by a hierarchy of power and wealth.

I suggest one take's this as a starting point, rather than the media and ideological statements.

What did the artist intend?

An insight.

A black friend of mine pointed out that no one was shouting about the black people under the monopoly board, their voices had no place in this 'debate' ..... that revealed another layer of hypocrisy.

I checked out the artists words on the image (see above), and for him it was nothing to do with Jews, or Israel in particular. The mural was about the entire hierarchy of power (the all seeing eye) and money (the bankers) ruling the world sitting on the backs of the poor. The majority of whom are non-white skinned...... he was using symbolism to articulate a fact. Political power is dominated by the interests of great wealth, much more than the welfare of the people's…

The hypocrisy of the media claiming the mural is about Jewish Bankers, tht support of the mural is anti-Semitic when the only genuine identifiers of people in the image are the white monopoly players, and the naked non-whites kneeling under the pressure of the white men's game of monopoly.

Pure manipulation, trolling...

The entire episode is a nasty manipulative PR gimmick.

Anti-semitism and generalisations

To all those who use the generalised terminology of 'The Jews' and complain about Jewish Bankers, or 'The Muslims' etc... The Christians, the Russians, The Chinese, the Lefty Commies, the Snowflakes, the Rednecks, the Brexiteers, the Remoaners, Women, Men, Humanity etc.
The abusive usage of generalisations, caricatures, etc is causing more discord, rather than understanding, and it is ineffective for any citizen engaged in the political and community spheres of interest.

So many generalisations in so many postings, mutterings, videos, essays, blogs, comments, so often laden with ad hominems.

Not much different to the Daily Mail.

Publishing triggers.

No information, just an opinion. To get a reaction.

So here is my cue on how to thwart that dynamic

Address the specifics of the behaviour, not the personality or any group.
Identify the behaviour, the actors, the outcomes and deal with the evidence, honestly.

Name the behaviour - stop the narrative, correct it.

Otherwise the narrative is manipulated into merely stirring anger, and that is selfish and counter-productive.

It is also politically irresponsible and reckless.

Name the behaviour, name the outcomes, name the actors, stick to the evidence, provide accountability on a peer to peer level.

Bullying

Bullying is the behaviour, and the bullies justifications, or their religion, skin colour, gender are irrelevant - there are more in any group who are just like you and I, ordinary vulnerable, working people who being born there, are stuck in it, not of their own making. Just getting by.

The use of generalisations includes all those ordinary people as the abusers.

THAT is deeply divisive.

Worried about facebook and the security of your data?

Quick critical analysis:

Don't be worried.

Here's why I say that.

1. Every computer platform we use will surveil, it's built into how computers talk to each other, Every platform will retain and use user data, one way or another.... you input the data, you know what is there. and if you are worried about that, then why?

Really. Most of what we input is dribble, it's useless information, irrelevant to how power operates, none of us are doing anything seriously dangerous to the system of power as it stands. Banal day to day stuff. Trillions of terrabytes of the stuff. We input it. It's mostly garbage of a consumer life style, which is a culturally imposed lifestyle. And there's plenty of useful stuff there too, and lots of nastyness... it's a reflection of Consumer Society after all. What is the risk in all of that data?

Where the risk lies is if I am manipulatable (is that a word?).

If there are buttons in me that can be pushed to stimulate me to react emotionally in predictable ways, and if I cannot regulate that reaction that is where the only key of the entire process that I can turn, either way, lies... regulating my emotional reactions..... especially to print and video... if I fail to do that, then I am vulnerable.

Then, if someone knows how, and has to technical ability to do it, and wants to target a given peer group of people with 'insecurities' similar to mine, to trigger that demographic to influence our political decision making at the grass roots, or anywhere else on an emotional level, rather than with evidence led, transparent analysis..... that person can push my buttons, and my reaction hands that person psychic control of me for a brief moment.

On a collective level that has to be exposed for what it is.

It is psychological and emotional grooming.

The bullies in Power have been doing that with pamphlets and  billboards since before the printing press, and it was done with the Bible, The Torah, the Koran and many other texts before.... it's nothing new.

The vulnerability is not in facebook, it's not in SCL, or surveillance, it's in our minds, our conditioning, our prejudices.

Our insecurities - we must get to know them, and spot when they are being triggered, if we wish to be an effective citizenry seeking egalitarian governance.

We need to be able to spot the behaviour, name and stop it, and rthus etain control of the narrative.

The targeting works - the triggering works. Look to the roots of the problem.

Everyone is so worked up! Perhaps not as many as some would like to think?

So much rage being printed, and video'd, yet I think, as I said before, there is a lot of deliberate hype, duplication, replication that makes some things appear much bigger than they are and that there's lots of social movement right now against that, seeking evidence based governance in all areas of our social systems.

Key to this is our social conditioning, by institutional systems of education, indoctrination and ideological academia, news media, film media and marketing. The sources of our insecurities are not all biological, some are en-culturated, indoctrinated or a direct result of oppression, bullying or trauma.

Institutions are tools.

If I fear the tool being used to manipulate me then that is a matter for me to deal with, in the first instance.

Rejection and critical thinking are the only correct response to any attempt at psychological manipulation.

The story about Cambridge Analytica is not about using Facebook, it is about directing manipulative, triggering, trolling political marketing material at targets based on their self published vulnerabilities and insecurities..... in order to influence peoples behaviour in order to undermine an evidence led decision making process, so that the target can be exploited.

THIS IS GROOMING. It is wholly abusive psychological grooming.

And it's a fully integrated behaviour of the system as things stand...

And I think the education system is a core component of that behaviour, in that so many leave with without learning critical thinking skills. Why does our Schools Eduction system fail in that regard?

THAT IS THE STORY HERE.

Facebook is not the problem.

Kindest regards

Thank you for reading this blog. All we need to do is be really honest, responsive to the evidence we find, and ready to reassess when new evidence emerges. The rest is easy.

Opinion, Evidence and the Youth Vote

The Youth Vote:

Represents a shift from opinion to evidence as the basis for voting and political policy deliberation.

A reckoning is coming.

A day of reckoning too for all those older people who look down with condescension on young people,  claiming that the youth fell for the 'bribe of Free Tuition at University' by Jeremy Corbyn - when in fact the youth voted on many issues in a holistic manner....  and objected to being saddled with debt as a normative - debt to get further education, debt to get housing, debt to pay for bankers fraud and wars of aggression, debt due to low wages and insecure working arrangements that suit employers.

The youth also responded to the bullying by media of Jeremy Corbyn, of low income families, of the disabled and of those who seek peace and negotiation over wars of aggression. Children KNOW when they are being bullied, and we do have an older population who do not know when they are being bullied because they have adjusted to the psychology of bullying, goading, gaming and manipulation ...... that they still buy the media bias is proof enough of this statement.

Wrecked Economies!

And it occurred to me today that in terms of wrecking economies, the British, French and United States of America Establishments (New Labour, Tories, Lib Dems, Democrats, Republicans) wrecked the economies of Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya and Syria whilst claiming that people like Jeremy Corbyn would do the same to the UK economy.

"Make the economy scream!"

Richard Nixon on Chile before the coup that led to General Pinochet, friend of Thatcher, assuming power.

Who really wrecks economies, and for what purpose?

Governance is different to politics.

Politics is the struggle for power, the power to Rule.

Governance is the administration of a community's shared resource base for the equity of all members of that community.

We need to disable politics and enable healthy governance.

Civil War

To prepare for a civil war a division of opinion over the evidence must be in place and then triggered.

Opinions are personally held views that always omit aspects of the available evidence.

Thus when those views are challenged, the holder tends to react as if it was a personal attack on who that person is.

That is a psychological death threat to such a person.

Only then will a civil war take root.

The War in Northern Ireland is a prime example.

The Civil Rights protests were never about Unionism vs Republicanism.

Who benefited from the shift from civil rights (evidence based) to national identity (opinion based)?

Was the man who assassinated Jo Cox operating on opinion or evidence?

How easy is it to trigger someone who holds a personal opinion?

Are groups of people who hold opinion over the evidence more easily manipulated?

These are critically important questions.

Healthy Governance is not a gambling den, it is not a cash cow and it is not a tool of hierarchical control.

It is a matter of duty of care to the people.

All of the people, rich and poor alike.

Young or old, or middle aged.

Employed or not.

Duty of care to all. Everybody deserves this.

Duty of care cannot be a question of meritocracy (I detest that word and ideology).

Healthy Governance is the administration of a community's shared resources (taxation) for the equity of ALL members on that community. Our money, our communities.

Whose bombs are being dropped from British War Planes? Do they belong to Basildon, or Bexlyheath, or Glasgow? How many weapons does your post code sell to the Saudi Regime?

This is the 21st Century - the information age - and the old politics of the 19th Century of International Empires based on military capability backing commercial activity is out of date, out of touch, out of steam, out of ideas, out of inspiration, lacking in humanity and humility and doomed to the dust bin of human history.

A reckoning and healing is underway.

Opinion is being trumped not Trumped (excuse the pun) by evidence.
Corbyn is evidence over opinion.

New Labour was opinion over evidence.

The Conservatives are all opinion over evidence.

Brexit was all opinion over evidence.

Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya and Syria - opinion over evidence!

Evidence, David Smail and the facts before us.

I have just completed my first reading of 'The Origins of Unhappiness : A New Understanding of Personal Unhappiness' written by David Smail.  It is an astounding work, and I must say, I now believe that it is essential reading for anyone interested in psychological distress, justice and economic equity.

https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/27133657-the-origins-of-unhappiness

"It is the main argument of this book that emotional and psychological distress is often brought about through the operation of social-environmental powers which have their origin at a considerable distance from those ultimately subjected to them.

On the whole, psychology has concerned itself very little with the field of power which stretches beyond our immediate relations with each other, and this has led to serious limitations on the explanatory power of the theories it has produced.

To illustrate this, typical cases of patient distress in the 1980s are examined. The decade when the right-wing of politics proclaimed there was no such thing as society gave rise to psychological distress across social classes, as long-standing societal institutions were dismantled.

This is as much a work of sociology, politics, and philosophy, as it is of psychology. Fundamentals of an environmental understanding of distress are outlined. A person is the interaction of a body with the environment."

What I got from this book : realism and honesty.

I live in England where poverty is deliberately maintained and the poor are dehumanised in media representations, where the symptoms of that distress are used as signs of a flawed nature in order to blame the impoverished for their impoverished state, which protects the Wealth Extraction systems, externalising the cost of low wages and inadequate social care provision.

"We need to realise that, rather than the patient being a problem for the world, the world is a problem for the patient. We are embodied products of environment space-time. To make a difference in our lives we need to be able to exert what little influence we have on the environment, to make it, from our perspective, a little more benign. It is not we who need to change, but the world around us.Or, to put it another way, the extent to which we are able to change will always depend upon some material change in the environmental structures of power which envelope us (and insofar as these cannot be changed, for example because they are in the past, neither can we be wiped clean of their effects).

The difficulty with this is immediately apparent: how do we, relatively powerless creatures, bring effective influence to bear on the environment?"

David Smail
(goes to wiki page on David Smail) wrote this :

"Hardly any of the 'symptoms' of psychological distress may correctly be seen as medical matters. The so-called psychiatric 'disorders' are nothing to do with faulty biology, nor indeed are they the outcome of individual moral weakness or other personal failing. They are the creation of the social world in which we live, and that world is structured by power.

Social power may be defined as the means of obtaining security or advantage, and it will be exercised within any given society in a variety of forms: coercive (force), economic (money power) and ideological (the control of meaning). Power is the dynamic which keeps the social world in motion. It may be used for good or for ill.

One cannot hope to understand the phenomena of psychological distress, nor begin to think what can be done about them, without an analysis of how power is distributed and exercised within society.

Such an understanding is the focus of this web-site. "

You can go to David Smail's Website here via wayback web archive.

I respectfully suggest this as a genuinely useful resource base, to find tools and insights that relate to how power operates and behaves in this culture.

The psychology of power hierarchies. The psychology of people adjusting to this unhealthy social institutional structure and culture. Some home truths. Radicalisation. Grooming. Social meaning. Our lives in all of this.

Evidence based.
