Adversarial Politics is not our friend.

Adversarial Politics is not our friend.

Brian Bilston, Poet

Assassination attempts are always psychopathy.

There is something deeply, profoundly unhealthy in terms of mental health and behaviour behaviour of people in the USA, across the political domain.

One cannot take any comfort from political violence. In that moment Mr. Trump was victimised. As was the person who died from a head wound, and the two people who received non-lethal wounds, and to a certain extent, the gunman. A 22 year old, barely an adult. What did he learn that drove him to take such an action?

What happened to infant Trump. What did he learn, and from whom? What influenced his development, behaviour and character?

What is either person symptomatic of?

Nothing can justify such action, nothing, we do not need to make an excuse for either party - and we must try to understand. We must.

A problem correctly understood is half way towards a solution. A problem incorrectly understood is insoluble.

This is a soluble problem.

The adversarial dynamic is not the friend of the people at large.

The adversarial dynamic tends to empower predatory behaviour rather than prevent predatory behaviour. It enables bullying as a tactic and a behavioural problem becomes an institutional and cultural problem.

What is truly worrying is that it is intentional and incidental. The adversarial approach seems to incite chosen groups to engage in violence with 'othered' groups, driving ordinary apart.

There's no value in speculating about these events. We must understand them accurately. What does the evidence suggest?

Othering

"The term Othering or Otherizing describes the reductive action of labelling and defining a person as a subaltern native, as someone who belongs to the socially subordinate category of the Other.

The practice of Othering excludes persons who do not fit the norm of the social group, which is a version of the Self;  likewise, in human geography, the practice of othering persons means to exclude and displace them from the social group to the margins of society, where mainstream social norms do not apply to them, for being the Other" Source :  Wikipedia

There is a website that tracks mass shooting events in the United States of America.  It records every known mass shooting updating daily, often with multiple entries for a single day.To shoot other human beings one has to have 'othered' them entirely.

Clearly the United States of America is not a healthy polity. Too much 'othering'.

The USA is a State that operates more than 700 military bases outside its own territory.  In other States territories. A state with declared adversaries, enemies, allies.

A state engaged in warfare, in supplying weapons to allies waging war, even going so far as to enable a genocide. A state where regular mass shooting events occur. Multiple states at war. A pattern. A global cultural institutionalised behavioural dysfunction.

This is not healthy behaviour.

@millyoneire Replying to @badarttangent This BEYOND hypocritical speech @Biden-Harris HQ ♬ We Rise Against (Full) - Jonathan Paulsen

The sickness is systemic, a global culture of adversarial violence and power struggles.

The consequences of that are horrific.

Gaza, the home of 2.3 million Palestinians, in ruins.*

“Suddenly, we heard sound of a missile, and then a very strong explosion,” said Abu Hammad, 36. “Then the sound of screaming, ashes, and blood were the only thing you could hear, see and smell. When I pulled myself together, I remembered that my daughter had been standing near the school’s gate. I ran madly, and screaming her name.”

Abu Hammad started looking for her daughter, stepping between the injured, the dead and the scattered body parts, but could not find her.

“There were many bodies, including children, women, and men, some cut to many pieces, some burnt alive. The street was a pool of blood. But there was no trace of my child.”

source : The Guardian

There is much, much worse on Instagram, Twitter, Al Jazeera, Tiktok, Telegram and beyond, with all of these horrors intended by Israeli and seen by USUK air and satellite surveillance systems. The reality is undeniable.

What is that?

Gaza, The Sudan, Ukraine, Congo, Myanmar , Libya, Iraq, Syria, Afghanistan, Kashmir, and so many other places.

Political violence in the service of Wealth as Power.

The hierarchy of a culture, any culture, can exert an immense influence on the lives of the majority outside the hierarchy circles who must live within the conditions they set. And the hierarchy class can and do often exert that influence with impunity. They are rarely held accountable.

In this case, the case of the USA, the political hierarchy is a well studied and understood malign influence, with lethal consequences for its own populations, and those of many other States.

America is not alone in this dynamic. It is a global problem. Adversarial dynamics among ruling classes is an ancient reality, alive and well today.

Historically speaking it is true to say that Competing Warring States is the prior geopolitical system, and the inheritance of that line of governance remains hugely problematic, in spite of liberal democracy and its promises. Liberal Democracy emerges form an adversarial dynamic without challenging that adversarial dynamic, which keeps that dynamic in place, and we all suffer for it.

Adversarial Politics is not our friend.

No more left tight tussles, please - it’s exhausting. I know this is not an imminent possibility. It remains a possibility nonetheless.

There you have it, on one easy to understand quote, from Tim Field

Tim Field born 24 April 1952 in Eastbourne 15 January 2006) was a British anti-bullying activist with his main focus relating to workplace bullying. He was the author of two books. In 2011, Field and a journalist Neil Marr coined the term "bullycide"

I tend to see Neoliberalism as just another branding in the historical trend of 'Wealth Extraction as Power Oppressing Nations'. I call this kind of system a Bully Cult. It operates as a bully, imposes beliefs to justify and rationalise the bullying, and it encourages bullying through curating bigotry.

The WEAPON cult which long, long ago created the adversarial system because even within it's constituents, the leading power factions - the Owners, the Kings and Queens, the War Lords, the Barons, the Hedge Funds, The Corporate Owners, The major institutional religions - all engaged in open and covert violent competition, where adversarial approaches were and remain the norm.

Monarchy the original knife crime syndicate.

It is a behavioural characteristic, a cultural pattern rather than a standard human behaviour. It is also a learned pattern of behaviour. Who teaches that? Who mentors children to become professional bullies adults?

Adversarial Culture is not going to help us.

My humanist political stance points out that the Left/Right dynamics of political ideology are inherently adversarial and that they cannot facilitate Mutual Aid approach to Governance.

These then are the settings born of adversarial relations and they do not reflect a need to abandon the adversarial model of governance, in order to achieve mutual aid and healthy governance.

Most users of the terms Left/Right believe the adversarial dynamic is inevitable, natural and that 'it is the way reality works' because it is here, has always been here in recorded history, and it seems to be inevitable. It is not.

I find at times that for me the terms Left/Right are inadequate to our political needs in these times. They carry malign, curated characteristic attributions, because they have become weaponised. They are used as emotional weapons. Dog whistles for the pain of impotent anger and the regression of revenge.

Hit back! Hit Back! Destroy them..

Historically the oppositional dynamic and psychologies of Power contained within Left/Right labelling are rooted in old 18th Century categorisations, from the French Revolution, a violent uprising that was presented as a struggle for liberation, which it was in part.

What happened was that pretty soon another violent hierarchy emerged to continue the ancient systemic approach of Wealth Extraction as Power, now represented by the Right,  in opposition to the Left, who represented the ordinary people in general terms, rather than specific.

Within Marxism, a contradiction is a relationship in which two forces oppose each other, leading to mutual development. It is adversarial.

This pattern of thinking ensures that the hierarchy and its violence persists.

Wealth as Power opposing the People

The term Left was later adopted to meet Marxian analysis, and the rise of Trade Unions as a political lobby protecting workers from Abusive Industrialists.

The Left was for Workers Rights, The Right was for Owners Power way back then and remains so through to today..

Both sides claim that it is ‘hard working people’ and 'entrepreneurs' and 'honest workers' who they appeal to and who form up their natural support base.  Factories need workers. Wealth Extraction needs workers. Workers towns need shops. Shops need workers. Wealth extraction needs to extract from every level of that. Wealth extraction needs workers.

While they are not the same, or comparable, The Left and The Right, they are bootstrapped by the dominance of the adversarial dynamic of power politics. That dynamic entraps all who participate in it. That is why it is allowed to persist.

That dynamic is a huge driver of the conflict, warfare and impoverishment of humanity - we have to call it out in public, and challenge it without feeding it.

And yet they both agree that Wealth Extraction needs 'workers.'  Both Left an d Right need 'workers' to 'grow the economy'.

What about the people?

They do not cite decent, warm hearted, intelligent, kind people, of all ages, creeds, languages, cultures and communities - the vast majority of us -  as their base. They do not claim the disabled, the vulnerable, the distressed, the wounded and maimed, the traumatised or the impoverished as their base. Where are they represented and where are their needs as yet un-met?

All the leading adversarial parties have a minority voting base, pretending to represent the majority view.

Mutual Aid is the answer to that problem. Mutual Aid includes all the people, all the time, us together in solidarity.

21st Century

The shituation has moved on -  the issue is hierarchy and abuse of power, the issue is war, where workers murder other workers, as ordered by Wealth Extraction Lobby politicians.

The issue is genocide. The issue is Climate Disruption. The issue is impoverishment. The issue is curated weaponised bigotry.

The issue is lethal bullying and that must be stopped.

These are global issues, because they are symptoms of systemic, cultural, embedded and normalised adversarial dynamics operating within every modern State, and operating between States. It is insane behaviour. It is causing intolerable harms.

An adversarial approach has no hope of dealing with these issues safely. It is not possible to solve problems like this using adversarial approaches.

Humane Solidarity is our Superpower.

I see the emergence of another political stance - Mutual Aid, Egalitarian Justice, Deliberative Democracy, Devolved Power based on honesty about the evidence and what it means. Emerging from the population rather than the existing hierarchies. Grand words, sweeping generalisations some would say. I would argue the opposite. Mutual Aid is helping each other. It immediately challenges the Adversarial Dynamic.

Egalitarian Justice is full public accountability of all elected officials, so that any corrupt behaviour is a criminal offence, with a prison term. Betray the people, pay the price. Same laws apply to everyone, nobody is above the Law, overtly or covertly.

Deliberative Democracy is where the people who are to be impacted by a policy are part of the discussion, with a view to prevention of avoidable harm to their welfare and security, informing policy and changing it where it needs changing, in order to meet their needs.

Devolved Power is about decentralising political power and the institutions of state, so that they are among the people, a workforce of the people, carrying out the day to day administration of good governance.

Working together rather than factions working against each other.

The constant adversarial struggles for power are exhausting.

The constant harm causation is exhausting.

The daily awareness of what is being done to innocent people as we go about our day is exhausting.

Being a witness to all of this is exhausting.

Going through it as ones daily lived experience is intolerable, a living hell. Beyond exhausting.

We, the exhausted witnesses, are in the easier place to mobilise as a political lobby to challenge the adversarial dynamic.

We are exhausted.

A new term emerges, Continuous Traumatic Distress, where the events that cause distress are always imminent and there is no safety.

The lived experience of a Genocide is a situation where masses of people are forced to endure continued imminent threat to their lives, in an unpredictable way, without end. Every minute presents a potential threat, many live wounded and maimed, and they endure.

And we witness from a distance, living in the States enabling all of that. We know we are safe, and that the Palestinians, the Congolese, the Sudan, the Royhuinga and others are not safe at all, they are millions upon millions of innocent people, families, communities, towns and cities of people who are enduring warfare, caught in the crossfire,  and worse facing a clear genocide.

What can we do to stop all of this?

What part of our State must we rein in to cease this activity within our polity, our country?

Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs misleads.

Another Icon on Western thought turns out to be a deliberately misleading ideal. Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs is a logical fallacy, an inversion of the reality about culture and human needs. Maslow spent time amongst the SikSika or Blackfoot Nation of Turtle Island, and found a highly functioning egalitarian society where personal possession of wealth was not considered superior, rather it was considered inferior.

Sharing what one has was deemed the normal and healthy behaviour by all, and the more one shared, the better in that everyones physical and cultural and habitual needs were always met.

Furthermore the way they related to their children was not about what the children would become, it was all about the children as they are, as they present, already fully a person, already self actualised.

This tiktok talks us through the basics.

I invite you, dear reader, to also read the full article, from www.resilience.org , for more detail, it really is quite fascinating and makes for some healthy common sense, from a decent persons point of view, in any language or culture.

Self-care matters

I don’t blame myself for feeling any of these feelings, for feeling disempowered, impotent, angry, outraged, hopeful, hopeless, sad, depressed when meeting all of this. These are natural feelings to feel in this shituation.

Regulating how I relate to, how I treat those feelings and emotions matters because it helps me to center myself, it helps me sustain whatever little effortI make in a more balanced manner. It reduces the likelihood of burn-out. I hope it makes my efforts more sustainable.

This is true doe all of us witnessing and dissenting and resisting and organising and not turning away.

We need to take our own self care, and that of our friends, family, neighbours ours and communities, apply it gently and firmly as part of the overall effort. Solidarity within our communities. A solidarity of compassion, heart, warmth and intelligence, feeding our efforts.

Perhaps this is another spring from which a trickle of active compassion can maybe become a river, with lakes and feed the sea of humane organised living, a healthy human species.  Humane Solidarity is our superpower.

The Peace Protests continue, the environmental protests continue, people are mobilising at pace, it all takes time, and that time between witness and action and resolution is painful precisely because we are witnessing the harms and our human empathy is intact.

Know that the most human and humane will to be free from oppression and dominance behaviour is inextinguishable.

Why I cannot vote for Labour as a party. Why I vote for Peace, never for War.

I cannot vote for a party directed by Keir Starmer, any more than I could vote for a Labour Party directed by Tony Blair after Sierre Leone, Afghanistan and Iraq 2003.

It is unacceptable that international war criminals are not held to account.

It is morbidly unjust that we live, badly ruled by international war criminals.

The situation.

The Labour Party Executive and the Labour Party Bureaucracy seeking Power in the UK  in the next few days are collectively complicit in the following.

There is no legal doubt to this assertion.  Starmer has form. Dating before he entered Parliament. Tzipi Livni

As Directer of Public Prosecutions, he blocked a warrant being served on a War Criminal, October 2011.

This is entirely illegal - the British Government was then, and remains today duty bound by ratified international treaty Law to serve and implement a warrant issued by the ICC if the person referred to in the warrant is on British land and such a warrant can be presented in person.

His comments and public statements, his positions and papers issued since October 7th, maintain that bias.

Protect Israeli officials from accountability, protect the Zionist project.

Self Defence!

The geen-ocyde in Gaza is fully operational at this point, as I type there are constant military assaults upon encampments, the remaining standing buildings, plus battles with Hamas Resistance Fighters.

Both armed entities are set amongst nearly two million utterly exhausted, starving, terrified, terrorised, traumatised, wounded, maimed, shell shocked men, women, children, babies, elders.

Medical services almost entirely degraded, in many places operations without anaesthesia, lack of medicines, there are no schools, no universities, its all gone.

In many places there is no sanitation, no running water, food is always dwindling.

And every day bullets, bombs, quad copter drones with machine guns, artillery and air strikes.

Multiple slaughters, frequent detentions, prison camps  within Israel now hold 10,000 Palestinian men, women and children.

Estimates by external expert groups of deaths run into the hundreds of thousands, Gaza had 36 hospitals, which recorded deaths now there are less than a handful. Many thousands lie rotting under rubble, or bulldozed by the Israeli Military into the ground, covered up roughly.

Intolerable horrors, second by second, minute to minute, hour by hour, day after day, week after week, month after month, for 8 months, with no end in sight.

All of this operationalised as cruelly as possible. Every few days more living witness testimony from the detained and from within the Israeli system, as some detained are released.

The director of Al-Shifa Medical Complex, Dr. Mohammed Abu Salmiya, speaks to the press at Nasser Hospital in Khan Yunis after being released by the Israeli army following more than seven months of detention following a military operation at the hospital last November, on July 01, 2024.

from November 23, courtesy Al Jazeera, after his arrest  and abduction by IOF

..... widespread institutionalised totally dehumanising and degrading treatment, some of it lethally cruel.

Industrialised cruelty. People, persons who go home to a home cooked meal, watch screen with kids, goes to sleep, gets up, goes out and does it all again next day, weathers hot, works is good - the workers, they are getting paid to do this to other captive victimised persons: perks of the job - uniforms, canteen, training, shift work, overtime, holidays, sick leave and bonuses - Job Description : to torment  an ordinary human who is personally innocent, just born to that situation by however that happens.

This is insane.

And now the American President is Above The Law!

What is this?

This is the same old Colonial Conquest, Occupation, Clearance of the native population, Settlement, extirpation of the native culture, polity, land tenure and habitation process, We know it. It must be stopped.

Self Defence?

So say Sir Keir Starmer, beloved of Tony Blair, Peace Envoy to The Middle East, another candidate for The Hague.

The problem.

Unless we reject every Labour candidate who supports Israel in this horrific atrocity and only allow proven pro-peace candidates, we are erring on the side of a lessor evil that is an illusion. It is not a lessor evil.

Nurture Culture.

I hope we can see the last generation to ever see, hear or sense warfare rampaging across their homes, and having to flee in terror, people murdered all around.

I hope as more people access each other and the vast library of what we know, what is reliably true and talk with each other about what they have found and what it implies, I think the decency of the vast majority will prevail.

It may well take a while, it will likely be a bumpy ride, though hopefully not too bumpy. It will not be easy, It can be done..

Do what you love.

The Trade Unions Congress have a  series of practical healthy governance policy plans with regards Climate Disruption. :

https://www.cacctu.org.uk/sites/data/files/sites/data/files/Docs/climatejobs-2021-web_0.pdf

A million and more well paid jobs

A million and more well paid jobs in a Green Sustainability drive where all workers involved would be guaranteed permanent, well-paid, trade union protected jobs in work that reduces emissions, repairs land, protects communities.

It would also guarantee that workers in the old high-carbon sector are retrained with the new skills and knowledge that will be required. There's no need to make anyone unemployed, quite the opposite. We need all hands on deck!

We must not underestimate this challenge.

Peace is more than the absence of war.

The jobs are guaranteed, but ensuring the education and training programmes are in place for that huge workforce must be a significant part of the plan.

A further advantage would be that, just as the NHS provides socially useful work that many take pride being involved in, so will the National Climate Service.

It would provide socially useful work that we could take pride in as we decarbonise the economy, address the climate crisis and create a better, safer world for future generations.

Public ownership

Alongside the creation of a National Climate Service, it is clear that public ownership of key sectors of the economy is needed in order to make the rapid changes the crisis demands. The market has failed to deliver over many years. In sectors such as transport and renewable energy, which are key to cutting emissions, market failure results from corporations’ competition for investment and profit rather than co-ordinating and planning work that can have an impact on the climate.

In rail, for example, competition for lucrative franchises has undermined investment in the green infrastructure we need.

In the case of renewable energy, instead of investing in a publicly-owned renewable energy sector, government grants have ended up with private companies.

This had not led to the rapid scaling up of this sector or to an expansion of jobs. Direct government investment in a publicly-owned energy system could ensure that a renewable energy industry is established in the UK providing many jobs.

Public ownership is vital to transforming our

economy in response to the climate crisis. In this report, we have called for public ownership of the energy sector and the grid, of transport, of the plan to retrofit our homes and buildings and, within industry, public ownership of the steel industry and other key sectors.

Peace is more than the absence of war.

Premium Science and Humane Compassion - Robert Sapolsky on the Neuroscience of Transgender people.

Premium Science and Humane Compassion - Robert Sapolsky on the Neuroscience of Transgender people.

If I see or experience something and I don't KNOW what it is I have three choices.

1. I admit I don't know what it is.

2. I seek information, data, measurements etc to try to understand what it is. I then test that information, data, measurements for veracity.

3. I make something up.

The first two options are science.

The last option is dishonesty.

What will inform my dishonesty?

Deep Science made readily understandable.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dGBYYcH7CS8

Robert Sapolsky is a neuroendocrinology researcher and author. He is a professor of biology, neurology, neurological sciences, and neurosurgery at Stanford University.

Sapolsky has received numerous honors and awards for his work, including a MacArthur Fellowship in 1987, an Alfred P. Sloan Fellowship, and the Klingenstein Fellowship in Neuroscience.

He was also awarded the National Science Foundation Presidential Young Investigator Award, the Young Investigator of the Year Awards from the Society for Neuroscience, the International Society for Psychoneuroendocrinology, and the Biological Psychiatry Society.

Deep Compassion.

In this conversation, Robert shares scientific research related to the neurobiology of transgender people with the goal protecting the rights of transgender people via the creation of informed policies.

This discussion is what I call a rational conversation, it avoids the elements we see all too often in what is called debate - it is a win/win discussion rather than a win/lose war of words. The purpose of the conversation is to arrive at a place where the participants and the audience are enlightened and reassured.

Democracy is trapped in an old paradigm - the struggle for Power

We all know the meaning of the term 'office politics' as an indication of power struggles within person to person relationships within an office. Those relationships are inherently adversarial.

Currently every Democracy in place is an adversarial system, with a Government and an Opposition, which renders political discourse to the level of a debate, with a win/lose dynamic that attracts the most effective linguistic bullies who impede rational discussion at every turn. This amounts to Cognitive Warfare.

Election 2024

The recent 'debates' in US and UK Elections are prime examples of this dynamic being deployed to evade the evidence, reinforce bias and opinion, targeting people with emotionally charged cognitive warfare and this exposes the central lies of the Hierarchy of Wealth as Power Cult that dominates our legislatures.

We do not have any egalitarian polities operational at this time, and I suggest that we need such polities, and rapidly. The harm caused by adversarial relationships within Governance structures and between States is beyond measure. It is utterly toxic, and it is not healthy human nature. It is a cultural imposition - hierarchy of Wealth and Power is not a dynamic every baby is born for, it is not the nature of a healthy relationship between adult and child.

We have never studied the neurology of extant egalitarian peoples, left alone their psychologies.

The academic and medical scholarship is rooted in the study of people living within violent hierarchy cultures.

Normalisation and habituation and internalisation of all of that is not healthy biological behaviour, it is not adaptive, it is a coping strategy that is doomed to fail to deliver healthy humane behaviour as a cultural marker.

The psychological environmental movement is in its infancy and is struggling to be cared for and fed in such manner  that it might grow, mature and nurture the world from which it has emerged.

Education and The Israeli War Against Palestinian Children, CTD.

The Israeli War Against Palestinian Children, CTD

Interview between Owen Jones in London and Unicef representative James Elder live in Gaza.

James Elder: "The world should be terrified of the long-term consequences. Because we know that the longer a war goes on, the more damage it does psychologically to children. UNICEF knows that from a Yemen or Afghanistan. We are in uncharted territory when it comes to the mental health of children here"

Please watch this interview, give 20 minutes of your time to this.

And share it, pass it on. I wonder if it could happen that billions of people watch this, in the next week or so, and we, the ordinary majority of Humanity watch and hear and understand what is being said, what it really means. And what it means for every war zone that is currently in motion. So many childandren, every single precious one of them is 100% innocent.

In the way I see feel life I think that every adult alive owes a responsibility to all the children, I think that this is non negotiable biological and empathic and moral and egalitarian humane evolutionary mandate, and it is not a burden, it is a gift.  The gift is love, integrity and nurture. To be intentionally engaged  in the way is a gift.

The technical catch all word for this Alloparenting, in every day language we would say it is shared parenting. In practice this was, for most of our evolution, the norm across any given  population. Is is our oldest evolved behavioural characteristic that makes us behaviourally distinct from Primates, and every biologically healthy person would be happy to meet that duty, and succeed. It is how we thrived for most of our existence.

'All is born of woman, no harm shall come to the children.'

"if they are so hungry in the North, well they can just walk 20 minutes to the South and get the food aid." Israeli official comment a few days ago.

Education

Continuous Traumatic Distress - 24/7, minute by minute, second by agonising second.

In Gaza, there are no schools functioning, none left standing, there are no universities left standing. All intentionally and systematically targeted, bombed, destroyed. Erased. And all those students who would have been attending these schools and universities had younger brothers and sisters not yet in education.

The adverse changes that that unspeakable lived experience of constant state of warfare, imposed by a State bent on a genocidal campaign, the trauma it will inflict upon the babies, infants, toddlers, children, teens their mothers and fathers (who have no means to protect them) on their bodies and minds, on their endocrinology, lungs, heart, digestive system, lymph systems, sleeping patterns, eating patterns, resting patterns and their very essence is a grievous , grievous wound, invisible to the eye, until the symptoms present.

"some are hoping it will cease, and that somehow they will survive, some wish to be killed by war now, every second they are still alive, to end their suffering."  from conversations with children in Gaza, this week, last week, six months ago, during Operation Cast Lead, every time the 'Gras was mowed'

The world's Psychology and Child Development research clinical practice Community and everyone in Education and Pediatric Health Care must speak up, in public, to Power.

We and they must form up a political lobby on behalf of all our children, a put a stop to this.

Continuous Traumatic Distress.

This short documentary from Al Jazeera, on the impacts of living with continuous traumatic distress 24/7, minute by minute, all the time... living with constant imminent threat, over decades. What it does to children, parents and families, what it does to their communities.

"proportionality, anyone?'

Education.

The university of witnessing a Genocidal war in real time is not part of the University of Life. It is the university of desolation, the college of death, maiming and survival. Nobody thrives in this place. Survivors are the only ones who graduate. The makers of the bombs, the designers, the testers, the production line managers graduated from American, British and Israeli Universities.

Part of what happening is that we the people, the civilian tax paying, voting populations of the allies of Israel, the citizens of USUK EU and others are being educated by witness testimony and reliable empirical evidence. And we are asking questions, learning more. What is this? Why is this? We are learning every day.

The object of such an unwilled for education must lead to the emergence of a motivation to confront the truth about our Ruling Class and to act on what we find to make it the harm causation is ceased.

Peace

'Peace is more than the absence of War' as Arundhuti Roy puts it.

She was and will always be correct in that axiom. We cry out on the face of injustice - "no justice, no peace!' and it is not a threat, it is not a call to riot - it is a statement for fact. Where injustice is done, peace is absent.

"There can be no real peace without justice. And without resistance, there will be no justice," writes Arundhati Roy. We have a duty to respond to the unmet needs of all our children, to meet those needs, to prevent those needs from harm.

'All is born of woman, no harm shall come to the children.'

This is the oldest 'law' of the human species. Our basic biological mandate. Remember that? I mentioned it earlier.  Alloparenting -  it bears repeating. This Law is not a burden, this law the art of is living designed to set us free.

A blogger writes :

"Peace, in a world bent on war and intent on drawing the rest of us into it, is a precious commodity.

But not an easy one to achieve.

Do anything you can to avoid war–personal or public. Do everything you can to make peace real. But remember that peace can never come from either fear or threat. Both of those must be dispelled before the trust that is of the essence of peace can possibly break out.

Peace is not the acceptance of evil. On the contrary, real peace requires resistance to evil. But not in evil ways. This kind of peacemaking requires courage, not power, a kind of strength that uses love rather than force to change the world."

That will take all of us ordinary people becoming politically active. Not as an ideology based lobby. As a humane evidence based lobby, the biggest, strongest political lobby on Earth. Love in action.

It is what we need.

The revolution is dependent upon an educational liberation, and some counselling along the way, and I think this is absolutely essential and that we must make it happen at pace.

Emotional Blindness.

I think the evidence is there to suggest that following is likely true

If a person as a witness to these two documentaries and their meanings cannot hold all of that evidence in place, and admit it, then there has to be some profound  emotional blindness that is disrupting their capacity for analytical thinking, empathy, kindness - they have to be internalising a belief system that has changed the way their brains function, they way their minds behave, robbing them of the most important aspect of being a healthy human. Belief can do that. Blind ideology can do that. Unresolved trauma can do that. Indoctrination can do that.

Beyond that simple analysis, it is abundantly clear that the major crimes of State and non State militia must cease, and then they must be accounted for, all of them , and in full - no matter where that leads.

Bears, Women and Men : internalisation of cultural values, development of affective state self-regulation.

A Bear in the Woods.....
Image by Erik Mandre via Shutterstock

Historically, for the major part of the existence of Homo sapiens, the people who lived in forests and woodlands were largely formed of egalitarian cultures.

The peoples that lived in forests knew and understood bears because they had lived together for many tens of thousands of years. The bears knew them. They knew each other well.

In egalitarian cultures rapes are rarer than bear attacks. And bear attacks are exceedingly rare. When they do happen, it is usually due to an accident rather than a deliberate intentional common action, a standard behavioural pattern.

So the issue raised by the bear question is a cultural issue.

No baby is born with a bigotry already in place.

There are no misogyny genes, there are no warrior genes, there are no racism genes, there are no xenophobia genes.

Our behaviour, is this regard, is learned within a cultural context. Hierarchically violent cultures curate bigotries.

We learn to walk, we learn to talk. We are taught to speak. Language is learned. Take an infant born to a mother in one language, and place that infant within another language group, and the child will learn the language of the secondary language group. There is no gene for any specific language.

Our learning of behaviour as we grow up occurs in and is influenced by the culture within which we live.

We internalise the values of the culture in such manner as to feel them as part of our core sense of self, our very identity.

The invisible brain?

I have posted a link to an interesting (quite dense) lecture by Allan Schore on the neurobiology and neuroendocrinology of the development of emotional or affective state self regulation, with regards to the potential impacts of living conditions, environment, cultural practice upon these processes.

What goes one in our brains has been invisible, and is now being revealed as technology improves in examining brain development with empirical science tool kits.

There is the matter too of sex brain development, much of which occurs early in gestation, which is highly vulnerable to environmental influences, coming from and through the mother. we now know that brain sex dimorphism is much more complex with a greater range of variables and outcomes which indicate that the trans experience - of sensing oneself as being of the other biological sex - is indeed a natural part of human variability. For now, though, we are addressing the meaning and implications of The Bear Question.

The Bear Question.

The issue then, with regards the Bear Question, for women, is that within the dominant cultural setting on Earth is it stands today 'our lived experience is that many, many men are dangerous to us, and we cannot reliably predict when meeting men which ones are dangerous and which ones are not, in that the majority of men do seem to operate with a sense of entitlement to our bodies as sexual objects to be used, owned, possessed, exploited and discarded as a medium of the Mens Power in this culture and that there is no way to tell in advance as to which adult males are safe and which are not, and the tension of living with that is intolerable, not to mention the actual harms caused....."

And the only people who can change that are the men who call themselves allies of women.

Specifically the genuinely safe men MUST take a stance of confronting the unsafe attitudes that unsafe men hold, within this culture, and that means confronting them directly, robustly and without equivocation. All the time. Until the problem is no longer a problem. It also means confronting every structure of social power that extolls the values of the hierarchy of power, wealth and phenotype.

It is a problem with and of Men who internalise the patriarchal hierarchy cultural values in ways that are a life threatening and life altering problem for Women. Women are correct to point it out.

As a man, I understand the problem is a cultural problem, and I am part of that culture, to the extent that I have and carry any internalisation of the dominant cultural values and then express them in my thinking and my behaviour.

I have a responsibility to confront that culture. To myself, to all women, to all children. Just by being alive and aware of the problem.

It is not about 'me' and I cannot take it personally, even if my confrontation with other men on this is personal, as in one to one.

It is about us, all of us.

Men, women and children.

I was sexually assaulted, brutalised, psychologically abused and mistreated as a child, on a daily basis, and that abuse was mostly perpetrated by adult men. That is my lived experience.

Nuance required.

All our sons: The neurobiology and neuroendocrinology of boys at risk.

Allan Schore gives a detailed lecture on what was known in 2017 about the neurobiology and neuroendocrinology of boys at risk.

His work on the development of emotional self regulation, on the development of the systems within the brain that handle emotional state self directed management helps us understand that there are dynamics that start in utero, and that continue throughout life, that mediate the ways in which we process and handle our emotional states healthfully or otherwise. The developing brain is extremely sensitive to the environmental condition of the mother.

The nuance here is that each child grows up within a cultural setting, a socio-economic condition, a familial environment where many variables come in to play in the formation of formerly invisible neurobiological processes that underpin our behaviour. When we are looking at behaviour, it is important to take this new information into consideration. This helps avoid stereotyping, categorisation and other dehumanising attitudes so often embedded in discussions of adverse behaviour patterns. We are all human, we were all innocent babies.

In this lecture Allan Schore explores what happens for boys at risk, that is to say boys who for reasons outside their control or responsibility are exposed to trauma, neglect, maternal distress, familial distress in regards the maturation of biological systems undermining emotional development and learned behaviour.

This does not form a basis for absolving adults of accountability for harm causation, and it does offer a way to respond that is more concerned with prevention, health and safety than punishment.

For my purposes I have included this here as an indicator of preventative measures that can be taken, informed by current and developing knowledge of neurobiology and neuroendocrinology, to reduce the incidence of male distress, male psychopathology and male violence as part of the overall work to meet the challenges of the bear question.

A friend responds.

I asked a friend of mine to read over this, and she made these comments, which I publish here with her permission.

“some excellent points and thoughts there.

Reading it reminded me of my other experience yesterday in a charity shop…..found a beautiful Italian leather evening style handbag in a stunning shade of turquoise…

was checking out its suitability for my needs in terms of pockets etc. it looked like it had never been used….I felt something in a pocket and thought it might be a lighter but couldn’t find which pocket it was in and the shape was a bit different so I excitedly thought it might be a small roll of cash

NOPE it was a penknife

I then took it up to the ladies at the till who were shocked and apologetic, I made a comment along the lines of whoever previously owned the bag was like me because that’s the sort of thing I’d feel the need to carry on a night out - the shop assistants and other shoppers then had a open conversation about women having such items in their bags for protection…..age range was about 20-75 years old - we all admitted to having done this, we all also agreed knife crime and carrying knives was bad.”

This anecdote, as I wrote previously was provided by a good friend of mine, a woman I respect and admire every much as a friend and fellow humane being, who describes herself as a “handbag granny :  as I am a fine example of how strong and determined women become after a life time of having to be tough….yeah it would be lovely to have become old and still be floating around without a care in the world having experienced no trauma or hardship but reality isn’t like that and life makes women tough”.

She also wrote this : “I’d say between the ages of 18 and about 45 I’d regularly carry something in my bag that could easily double up as a weapon if needed when I was going somewhere that I didn’t know was 100% safe, so 99% of the time I had a weapon in my bag and at times that would be in my hand if I was walking somewhere dark etc even if that was just a rolled up umbrella or a large set of keys. For women I think this is just instincts now, it’s not even something we think about - we just do it. Even a heavy overloaded handbag swung in the right way can knock a man off his feet, I think a granny recently took out a jewellery store thief in this way…

Culture

Have you ever looked back on a moment and wondered if you made the right choice? Professor Robert Sapolsky has, but he believes that there was no actual choice at that moment.

Professor Sapolsky has staked out an extreme stance in the field: we are nothing more than the sum of our biology, over which we had no control, and its interactions with the environment, over which we also had no control. Explore what it looks like to reject the notion of free will and how doing so can be liberating rather than paralyzing and despairing.

However , he points out that the kind of culture into which we are born, and the kind of culture our mothers were born into, which sets the conditions of their lived experience, has profound impacts upon us in utero, impacts that remain largely invisible yet present as behavioural patterns and dynamics. Because culture is the setting that is created by human interaction, there is room for the possibility of change. And that is exactly what this blog is all about.
