I was asked this question, which I think is a really good question, by Rumi Mohideen
"the juxtaposition of opulent wealth & abject poverty in developing, 3rd world countrries or Northern industrialised countries, if there is any difference, & why you think so."
That is a really good question, Thank you for asking it.
Here is my answer -
I think there is no real difference - mostly because the Northern States and their Wealth Class colonised most of the Earth and imposed their industrial economics upon the rest of the world, and have maintained their dominant position by violence and corruption. They erased almost all egalitarian cultures, prevented smaller nations from independent development.
When the British Empire met the other Empires, it was a meeting of competing Wealth-As-Power Cults. And at that time the Empire Cults were not the majority of cultural expressions across Earth's peoples.
I don't hold much respect for any Wealth-as-Power Cult, past or present, because I know that they depended upon and still depend upon exploitation of populations and shared environment, and because I know that they refuse to avoid known avoidable harms, and because I understand their psychologies as being dysfunctional, anti-evolutionary and a dead end in the long, long play of human evolution. I also understand that they curate bigotry as a weaponisation of human minds and bodies to divide the populations they exploit because they certainly understand the inequity of their dominance and most certainly fear being held accountable, as they see that as punishment, when in fact it is a healing opportunity.
The only possible pathway to holding them accountable is mass solidarity of the exploited population grounded in evidence rather than belief, whose objective is to craft a healthy governance system that meets the needs of people and environment as a unitary system, that is safe for people and the shared environment and all that lives as part of that environment, in the long, long term - it must be sustainable in ways that mimic and reflect how biological living systems thrive.
The Wealth-as-Power Cultures are not evolutionary, they are lethal to natural biological evolution.
I have read widely on anthropology, neuroscience, child development, evolutionary psychology, environmental sciences, history, archeology and warfare.
Everything I have learned tells me that wealth-as-power cults are profoundly traumatising and dangerous.
I do feel, very strongly, that when enough of us understand this, and form humane solidarity as a practical and determined organisational movement we can successfully push back and regulate the wealth-as-power cultism and eventually dismantle it. I am quite sure it will be very difficult. However, I suggest the alternative is even more difficult. It is likely lethal. For all of us.
Most of us are good decent people, and most of us want a healthy future for all our children and their children into the future.
