For most of our existence as a species....Matrianarchy.

This is true.



For most of our existence as a species, we have lived as egalitarian societies, across a spectrum of arrangements, from nomadic bands to settled communities, hunting, gardening, foraging in ways that nurtured the habitats in which we lived and thrived. For most of that time were were not engaged in a struggle for survival, we were engaged in healthy co-operative activity that allowed us to thrive as people, as persons, as large family groups, as language groups. The primary organisation of human evolution was alloparenting and what I call matrianarchy.

Alloparenting is where all the adults relate and work together to care for all the children. This generates a psychology of loving co-operation and affiliative relationships as the fundamental dynamic. It helps develop healthy emotional state self-regulation through the experience of having ones needs - emotional, physiological, social and 'economic' - met in full from birth by the whole group.

Matrianarchy is where the mothers, aunties and sisters regulate the power dynamics of the society in ways that maintain equity of power within the society. Power is shared as a responsibility. Matrianarchy is robust and playful, in that it understands our emotional being as a variable that requires modulation, attenuation so that things do not get out of hand. And therefore when adverse or abusive behaviour emerges, as can occur, for many different reasons, it must be kept in check, actively.

Social Anthropology provides a wealth data and information to support these propositions.

Then Wealth-as-Power emerged, about 11k years ago.

Wealth-as-Power as dominating force in any society occurs where a minority exploit a majority. That is traumatising and unjust. When Wealth-as-Power is more or less permanent, the traumatisation is continuous. A traumatised population is more readily divided and exploited than a healthy liberated population. A traumatised population finds it more difficult to self-regulate in healthy ways.

Wealth-as-Power Institutionalised Patriarchy to hold wealth and power away from the people, the expiated populations, through generational inheritance of male lineage and dynastic systems.

Patriarchy curated Misogyny to set boys and men against women, to disempower mothers and grand mother and aunties and to divide the exploited populations.

Patriarchy Wealth-as-Power created Militarism - organised funded mercenary violence to protect wealth, to protect and project power, to prevent exploited populations rising in solidarity to hold wealth-as-power accountable for avoidable harms not avoided, the evasion being central to wealth extraction efficiency.

Wealth-as-Power deliberately creates conditions of poverty in order to ensure a constant flow of bodies into cheap labour, which is the most efficient way to transfer wealth from the exploited population to the wealth-as-power ruling class.

Wealth-as-Power curates bigotry and institutionalises religious indoctrination systems that place hierarchy as a core, inevitable almost genetic human predisposition or characteristic. However the ubiquity of resistance says otherwise.

Matrianarchy shows us that there is a pathway towards a healthy society deeply rooted in our evolution as a species. Its most fundamental utility is healthy solidarity, accountability and shared power as a loving, bonded yet unbound responsibility towards one another.
